These are indeed strange and difficult times we’re living in — if I had to guess, I’d say many of you are spending more time at home than usual. Probably most of what you’re reading online right now is about Covid-19 — either directly or indirectly. We’re no different, of course, but rather than pen another article about why X product helps you tackle X problem as a result of Covid-19, we’re taking a different angle:

You will never regret an investment in your home. It’s true. Ask anyone — when you invest in the space where you spend the majority of your downtime, it’s never wasted. During this past month, many of us are beginning to perk up and notice that breakfast nook has never felt quite right. Or the bathroom sink that’s too small and leaking — maybe it really is time to fix that thing.

It’s a fact that beautiful kitchens and bathrooms don’t bring us joy in and of themselves, but they do lay the framework for joy. A space that facilitates conversation, movement, and practical day-to-day tasks in addition to inspiring us — this is a space that’s worth dreaming of and bringing to fruition.

So while you may not be keen on breaking ground in the next few days, here are a few beautiful ideas we’d like to plant — consider them dream seedlings for future remodels.

Remodeling Your Apartment / Condo’s Kitchen
We absolutely love how this Alexandria, VA condo’s new kitchen turned out — click here to see a gallery of photos.

“Our team completely gutted the unit down to the drywall and subfloor. Key upgrades include luxury vinyl plank throughout the unit; extending the cabinetry on the kitchen sink side to allow for additional storage, counter space, and a pantry; quartz countertops in the kitchen and bath; replacing kitchen fluorescent lighting with recess lighting and painting the dropped ceiling. Painting the unit warm gray is the finishing touch.”

Remodel Your Bathroom – Don’t Break the Bank
This Fairfax, VA remodel is one of our favorites because it shows how much joy you can spark while still keeping budget and practicality at the forefront of your thoughts.

“The update did include replacing the tub with a shower, but the vanity, toilet, window, and door remained in their existing locations. The client was clear about needing a hand shower on a main level for easy bathing in case they could not navigate the stairs. With glass waterfall tile in the shower and vibrant blue paint on the walls, we ensured the renovation was still interesting and creative.”

Not Just Bathrooms & Kitchens — Other Remodels Bring Joy, Too
I love how this basement remodel shows both elegance and fun and accessibility, all at once. The home theater and bar are just the beginning — there is so much going on here, and yet the stripped-down aesthetic make it clear there is a purpose for this space.

Stay safe out there, friends — and remember, much of the work we do can be started right from home. We would love to hear what you’re dreaming about — talk to you soon!
